Turkey FM optimistic about Iran N-talks

“At the end of the Saturday meeting between Iran and members of the P5+1 group, we will have good news,” Davutoglu told the Iranian Arabic-language news channel Al-Alam late on Friday.

The minister made the remarks after a meeting with Saeed Jalili, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

The Iranian delegation, headed by Jalili, arrived in the Turkish city of Istanbul Friday morning.

Iran and the P5+1 — Russia, China, Britain, France, the US plus Germany — have agreed to hold the first round of their fresh multifaceted talks in Istanbul on Saturday. The second round of the negotiations will be held in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, with the date to be announced at the end of the Istanbul meeting.

While welcoming talks based on common ground, Tehran has repeatedly made it clear that it will not negotiate over any of its fundamental rights.

Iran maintains that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it is entitled to acquire and develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
