nsnbc : Syria’s Kurdish National Council, on Monday, said rebel groups backed by Turkey displaced hundreds of non-combatant, civilian Yezidi from the village of Eli Qino in Syria’s northwestern Aleppo province.
The Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNC) on Monday accused Turkey-backed rebel groups of displacing hundreds of Yezidi civilians from the village of Elî Qîno, in Syria’s northwestern Aleppo province. The Council (KNC) also accused the “pro-Turkish Islamists” of kidnapping Kurdish civilians in northern Aleppo.
Villagers of Eli Qino in Aleppo’s Afrin district were given one hour to leave the village, reported the KNC. After that, properties, including olive groves, livestock and furniture were reportedly “confiscated”.
The KNC did not specify exactly what “rebel group” it was referring to but said some residents of El Qino had fled to Azaz city while others had been forced to stay in the desert. The KNC stated:
“We in the Kurdish National Council in Efrin [Afrin] condemn these irresponsible practices by these forces and we demand them to withdraw from the Kurdish area and stop such acts, and allow civilians to return immediately to their villages and return their properties. … We also call on all humanitarian organizations and countries involved in the humanitarian and military situation in Syria, to interfere and to put pressure on these groups to stop their acts”.
The exact number of displaced had not been reported. However, the KNC affiliated website Yekiti Media published a report in which Kurdish activists accused the Turkey-backed Euphrates Shield rebels of kidnapping at least 55 civilians in Kurdish villages in northern Aleppo.
