Trump suggests election ‘revote’ and calls on Supreme Court to overturn result in 46-minute Facebook video

Donald Trump suggested a “revote” of the presidential election could be called if the US Supreme Court did “what’s right for our country”.

In a 46-minute speech recorded in the White House and posted to Facebook, the president repeated his claims of election fraud and irregularities and said “hopefully” the country’s highest court get involved.

“Maybe you’ll have a revote, but I don’t think that’s appropriate. When those votes are corrupt, when they’re irregular, when they get caught, they’re terminated, and I very easily win,” Mr Trump said.

Beginning the pre-recorded video saying “this might be the most important speech I’ve ever made”, Mr Trump goes on to claim millions of votes in key swing states were cast illegally while holding up charts purporting to show irregular voting patterns.

“If that’s the case, the results of the individual swing states must be overturned and overturned immediately,” he said.

“Some people say that’s too far out. That’s too harsh. Well does that mean we take a president and we’ve just elected a president, where the votes were fraudulent? No. It means you have to turn over the election.”

The speech comes a day after attorney general Bill Barr said the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigations were “running down” claims of fraud that would potentially cover a “few thousand” votes, but not enough to have changed the outcome of the election.

Predicting that he would be “demeaned and disparaged” for his repeated claims, said he didn’t mind if he lost the election but only if he lost “fair and square”.

Throughout the video he made claims of anomalies in the Dominion Voting Systems machines, dead people voting, and corruption in Democrat-run cities that were won comfortably by Mr Biden.

He said the election was rigged, and everybody knows it, except for the media and the judiciary that has so far struck down the vast majority of lawsuits brought by both the Trump campaign, the GOP, and lawyers working independently like Sidney Powell, releaser of the so-called Kraken.

“We already have the proof we already have the evidence and it’s very clear. Many people in the media, and even judges so far, have refused to accept it. They know its true, they know its there. They know who won the election but they refuse to say, you’re right. Our country needs somebody to say you’re right,” Mr Trump said.

It has been almost four weeks since multiple media outlets projected Joe Biden would win the 2020 election, and just days after the six key swing states finalized their results confirming his victory.

Mr Trump added that his efforts were mostly about ensuring all Americans can have faith in all future elections, which just happens to also impact on whether he or Mr Biden would be president.

“This is not just about honouring the votes of 74 million Americans who voted for me … It’s about ensuring that Americans can have faith in this election. And in all future elections,” he said.

“Although it has a lot to do with who’s going to be your next president,” he added.
