Former President Donald Trump was arrested today (8/24/2023) at the Fulton County Jail on felony charges related to efforts to overturn the 2020 Presidential election results in Georgia. This arrest marks the first among his four indictments this year where a mug shot was taken, and it was released shortly after he left the jail.

Trump secured his release by using a local bail bondsman, as confirmed by a bonding agent. The Fulton County Jail, where he was booked, is known for its history of violence and poor conditions.
The arrest comes as part of a broad investigation overseen by District Attorney Fani Willis, which includes racketeering charges against Trump and 18 co-defendants, such as Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows, many of whom have already surrendered. This follows a federal judge’s decision yesterday to deny requests by Meadows and Jeffrey Clark to delay their arrests, setting a deadline of noon tomorrow for all defendants to voluntarily surrender.

Donald Trump has leveraged his return to Twitter as a platform for direct communication. His dramatic re-entry tweet encapsulates his defiant stance as a rebel who need not communicate to the media but directly to the people.
