AN injured truckdriver who was trapped for more than three hours has been freed from his wrecked rig and has been flown to Perth by rescue helicopter.
The truck rolled over about 4.30am on Great Eastern Highway, about 40km out of Merredin heading towards Southern Cross.
The 66-year-old old driver was trapped for more than three hours and emergency services remain on the scene.
The RAC Rescue helicopter headed to the scene, about 300km east of Perth, to fly the man to Perth for treatment. He was due to land at Royal Perth Hospital around 10am.
Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service firefighters from Southern Cross and Merredin helped free the man from the vehicle.
Diesel fuel is leaking from the truck and it is likely that there will be traffic delays around this area of the highway and motorists should use an alternative route if possible, otherwise expect delays.
