A man has been charged after a multi-vehicle accident on Sydney’s M7 last week in which two teenagers were thrown from a car.
Police allege the 48-year-old man was driving a tip truck and trailer along the M7 in Acacia Gardens when it hit the rear of a Toyota van about 3.30pm (AEST) on Friday.
This caused further collisions between two cars and a ute.
A 13-year-old girl and her 14-year-old sister were both thrown out of the van and taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital with head and facial injuries.
The sisters remain in a serious but stable condition.
Meanwhile an 82-year-old woman who was driving one of the other cars was trapped for an hour and a half before being freed by officers from Fire and Rescue NSW.
She remains in a stable condition with a fractured vertebra at Westmead Hospital, police said.
Officers arrested the truck driver on Sunday after he came to Mount Druitt Police Station.
He has since been charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and one count each of misconduct causing actual bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
He was granted bail to appear in Mt Druitt Local Court on August 9.
