Troops mark UK Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

Some 2,500 troops from the Royal Navy, the Army, and the Royal Air Force paraded through Windsor Castle, one of the British Queen’s residences, 25 miles west of London.

“It is a tradition of very long standing that the Sovereign, and members of the royal family, are intimately associated with the Armed Forces and have been proud to serve in all three services,” said the British Queen from the grandstand.

The parade comes one day after human rights campaigners organized a protest in London to express their anger at what they called “a catastrophic error of judgment” on the part of the British Queen by inviting “blood-stained” despots to her Diamond Jubilee.

Protesters carried placards reading “Shame on you Liz Windsor” and called on the Queen to issue “a personal apology to all those fighting for freedom in” countries whose tyrant rulers were invited to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The British troops’ parade through Windsor Castle was designed to reflect the close relationship between the royal family and the British Armed Forces.
