Western Australian Labor MPs have been paying tribute to their former colleague Jaye Radisich, who has died in hospital.

Ms Radisich was the youngest woman elected to the WA parliament when she joined the Labor government in 2001 as the Member for Swan Hills.

She had a kidney removed after developing a rare form of cancer and was clear of the disease for some years before it returned.

The 35-year-old died in hospital late on Saturday morning.

Colleagues including Eric Ripper remember her as a passionate local member.

“Jaye Radisich won outstanding victories for us in 2001 and 2005 and when she arrived she brought life and colour and youth to our caucus,” he said.

Labor’s police spokeswoman Michelle Roberts agrees.

“Great company, life of the party. Someone who was so full of life, so vital, so strong, to have her pass away at such a young age is a tragedy,” she said.
