Toxic gas poisons 116 Afghan students

The incident took place in early Saturday morning at the Hazrat Imam Zada Yahya high school in the Sar-e-Pul province.

The girls at the school showed symptoms of exposure to toxic gas, including headache and nausea.

Several cases of Afghan schoolgirls’ poisoning with toxic gas have been reported over the past two months.

This comes despite the detention of nearly 10 suspects by Afghan security forces in connection with the incidents in the northern Afghanistan province of Takhar. Investigations are underway.

President Hamid Karzai has blamed the enemies of Afghanistan for the instances of poisoning.
