Sharon Osbourne is set to sign £2 million deal with ‘The X Factor’ U.K.

Sharon Osbourne is close to signing a £2 million contract with “The X Factor” U.K., which would make her the highest-paid judge on the show’s 2013 panel, according to an article published by the Daily Mirror on April 20, 2013. The Daily Mirror reports that Osbourne will finalize the deal during the week of April 22, 2013. (£2 million is about $3 million in U.S. dollars.)

Osbourne is reportedly replacing Tulisa Contostavlos. It’s a change to “The X Factor” U.K. that British tabloids such as The Sun and the Daily Mirror have been reporting for months, ever since Osbourne tweeted in August 2012 that she wanted to go back to being a judge on the show. Osbourne was a judge on ITV’s “The X Factor” U.K. from 2004 to 2007, and she was a judge on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” from 2007 to 2012.

“The X Factor” executive producer Simon Cowell confirmed in an April 2013 interview with Radio Times that Contostavlos is no longer an “X Factor” judge and that show has decided who will replace her, but he wouldn’t say who the replacement is.

Cowell (who was a judge on “The X Factor” U.K. from 2004 to 2010) is the only one to earn more than Osbourne as an “X Factor” U.K. judge, because he is also an executive producer/co-owner of “The X Factor.” He is also an executive producer/co-owner of “Got Talent” shows.

Osbourne and representatives for “The X Factor” U.K. haven’t commented on these reports that she is set to rejoin “The X Factor” U.K., but the announcement about who the show’s judges will be in 2013 should be made by May.

In 2012, “The X Factor” U.K. judges were Contostavlos, Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh. The Daily Mirror has confirmed a previous report by The Sun that Barlow and Scherzinger are asking for their “X Factor” salaries in 2013 to be £1.5 million each, while Walsh’s 2013 “X Factor” salary is likely to be £1 million.

If it’s true that Sharon is going back to “The X Factor” U.K., then she will have to quit co-hosting the weekday CBS chat show “The Talk,” which is based in Los Angeles. Sharon has been with “The Talk” since its 2010 debut.

Sharon has been Ozzy’s manager since 1979, after he was fired from Black Sabbath. He has reunited with Black Sabbath several times.

The news about Sharon Osbourne’s £2 million “X Factor” deal comes less than a week after reports surfaced that she and her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, have been living apart. The Osbournes, who have been married since 1982, have reportedly been having marital difficulties because of Ozzy’s admitted drug/alcohol relapse and the couple’s financial issues. (The Osbournes were reportedly hit with a £1.1 million tax bill, according to the Mirror.)

However, Ozzy and son Jack have posted statements on the Internet denying that Ozzy and Sharon are not divorcing. On April 16, 2013, Ozzy had a Facebook message making a public apology for his relapse, which he said began 18 months ago, but he said in the apology that he has been sober for 44 days. A spokesperson for the Osbournes has also been telling the media that the couple is not getting divorced.

Sharon and Ozzy have three children together: Aimee, Kelly and Jack. Ozzy has three other kids (Elliot, Jessica and Louis) from his first marriage to ex-wife Thelma.

Ozzy, Sharon, Jack and Kelly were the stars of the Emmy-winning MTV reality show “The Osbournes,” which was on the air from 2002 to 2005.

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have been very candid in interviews and in their respective tell-all memoirs about discussing their previous marital problems, including their drug/alcohol addictions and violent fights with each other. Sharon said that she and Ozzy would often beat each other up during their worst fights. In 1989, their marriage almost ended after Ozzy was arrested for strangling Sharon. The charges were eventually dropped after Ozzy agreed to go to rehab.

Their marriage has also endured other health problems: In 2003, Ozzy was seriously injured in an ATV accident. He was diagnosed with early stages of Parkinson’s disease in 2005. Sharon, a survivor of colon cancer, revealed in 2012 that she had a double mastectomy in order to prevent getting breast cancer. Osbourne told Hello! magazine that she chose to have this major surgery after she found out that she has a gene that increases her risk of getting breast cancer. Ozzy, Sharon, Kelly and Jack have all spent time in rehab for addiction issues at various points in their lives.

Ozzy and Sharon will be spending a lot of time apart from each other in 2013 for work-related reasons. Ozzy is doing a Black Sabbath reunion tour that will be going to several countries, while Sharon will be busy for the rest of 2013 being a judge on “The X Factor” U.K.

According to the Daily Mirror, Sharon is also expected to earn about £500,000 in 2013 for book/publishing deals.
