Top 16 Comments on Mashable This Week

What were Mashable readers talking about this week? Mostly the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5. But this was a controversial week for businesses across the tech spectrum, and our Mashable community added some keen insight to every story.

It will come as no surprise that this week’s discussion was all about Apple. Early in the week our readers debated what the iPhone launch would reveal, and after Wednesday the community got fired up over how the iPhone 5 stacked up against the competition. Mashable editor Chris Taylor had his own insight to add, asking if Apple had stopped innovating.

It wasn’t just Apple that was rolling out new designs this week. On the heels of Apple’s announcement, eBay revealed its new logo. Our community sounded off on what they thought of the company’s new look (spoiler alert: most commenters hated it).

Instead of a new logo, Grey Poupon mustard came out with an unusual new marketing strategy: turning fans away. The company’s Facebook fan page screens prospective candidates and will reject anyone who doesn’t meet its standards. Our commenters good-naturedly wondered why they didn’t make the cut.

A different food brand started another kind of debate this week, with Dr Pepper’s new Facebook ad inciting controversy among its fans. Mashable readers were quick to share their own thoughts on the debate.

The controversy didn’t stop with soda. A new startup that claims it wants “real sex” to take over the Internet got the community talking.

Finally, the outage of hosting megalith GoDaddy.com caused many sites to go down. Mashable had the story, as well as the news of GoDaddy’s apology to its customers. Our readers had some different opinions on what GoDaddy owed their businesses.
