TIMELINE OF THE GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER AND HIS CRIMINAL PARTNERS THAT CLAIMED TO HAVE MADE AMERICA AND THE WEST GREAT!

GEORGE HEARST THE SWINDLING ROBBER OF GOLD & SILVER MINES

George Hearst in 1880s placed as a respectable US Senator from San Francisco

1771 AD-1821 AD: Mission San Antonio de Padua was the third of California’s 21 missions, established by Father Serra. Also, Mission San Miguel Arcangel, adjacent to the south, was the 16th mission, established by Father Lasuen in 1797. With Mexico’s independence from Spain in 1821, the missions became secularized, and the buildings of San Miguel and San Antonio fell into ruins.  George Hearst and the Hearst Family kept this as part of their massive “STATE OF HEARST” that reached at one time to 5,322 square miles or over FOUR TIMES the size of Rhode Island.

1820 AD-1891 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — George Hearst was a wealthy American who swindled GOLD MINES as he was NO PROSPECTOR in gold rushes across America. Hearst was a GREAT CROOK and, of course, was Naturally a United States Senator for two years (1865 AD-1867 AD) with a collected worth of $19 million robbed from others. George fathered the even more criminal newspaperman William Randolph Hearst who worked with the ROTHSCHILD CRIME SYNDICATE TO RAPE AMERICANS and ALL HUMANITY out of what would be $TRILLIONS in today’s money!

1820 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — Hearst was born in Sullivan, Missouri. His father operated three small farms, all of which were mortgaged, and used slave labor. William Hearst sold his products in his own local general store. George Hearst grew up before public education was widely accessible in Missouri, so his elementary education was inconsistent and fragmented but he did learn to read. Hearst observed the local mines and read about minerals & mining as building blocks for his mining Empire. His Father dies in 1846 AD and he ran his father’s store and did some local mining (unknown what it was in Missouri).

1833 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — The oldest existing record of discovery of gold in the Black Hills was in 1833, when a party of seven adventurers came into the Hills from Laramie, remaining a year and discovering gold. The party was destroyed by Indians near Spearfish, near Deadwood, and all record of it were lost for more than fifty years.

1842 AD-1919 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — Phoebe Elizabeth Apperson Hearst was an American feminist and suffragist. She was the mother of William Randolph Hearst and wife of George Hearst.

1850 AD-1859 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — Ophir Mill ruins, Comstock Lode. The Ophir Mine is where George Hearst made his first fortune. He first heard of the discovery of gold in California in 1849. Before deciding to depart, he continued to read further news on the subject so that he could be more certain it was true. In 1850, as a member of a party of 16, he left for California arrived the same year. He and his companions first tried placer mining in the vicinity of Sutter’s Mill on the American River with meager to no success. He then moved to Grass Valley on the news of a new lode and switched to dealing in quartz mines and running a general store serving the miners for almost ten years and made a small surplus. In summer of 1859, Hearst learned about silver assays of the Nevada Comstock Lode. Hearst used his surplus to buy a one-sixth interest in the Ophir Mine, near present-day Virginia City, Nevada. The miners pulled out 38 tons of high-grade silver ore and had it smelted in San Francisco, and made $91,000 profit (or roughly $2,500,000+ in today’s dollars). Supposedly, the sight of the bars of Ophir silver started the rush to Washoe County, Nevada.

James Ben Ali Haggin, Turkic mining partner of George Hearst

1850s AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — Hearst, Ali Haggin (of Turkic origin), Tevis (took control of Wells Fargo Bank) and Co., a company started in California was managed by San Francisco lawyer James Ben Ali Haggin with Lloyd Tevis and George Hearst. It grew to be the largest private investment firm of mine-owners in the United States. Hearst acquired the reputation of being the best mining Wheeler-Dealer on the Pacific coast doing whatever was necessary to run a monopoly in mining in every town or region he chose to dominate.

1860 AD-1863 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — George Hearst returned to Missouri to take care of some legal disputes. He met an 18-year-old girl neighbor named Phoebe Apperson and the 40-year-old Hearst married her in 1862. They married in 1862 despite the protests of Phoebe’s parents who thought George at 41, was too old for their daughter. 1863 AD: They moved to San Francisco where Phoebe gave birth to their only child, William Randolph Hearst.

1863 AD-1951 AD: WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST RESORTED TO LIES AND FAKERY OF WARS TO GAIN MORE RICHES — William Randolph Hearst was born in 1863 AD to his conniving father and his 20 or so year old mother.

1863 AD-1951 AD: WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST RESORTED TO LIES AND FAKERY OF WARS TO GAIN MORE RICHES — William Randolph Hearst Sr. was an American Yellow Media Manipulator and newspaper publisher who built the nation’s largest newspaper chain and media company Hearst Communications and whose flamboyant methods of yellow journalism influenced the nation’s popular media by emphasizing sensationalism and human interest stories.

1865 AD-1867 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — George Hearst began to invest his newfound wealth in land, and following the example of his mining partners, purchased 30,000 acres of the 48,806 acre Piedra Blanca Rancho. “Piedras Blancas,” meaning “white rocks” in Spanish, was the name given by Portuguese explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo to the imposing cliffs painted white by the thousands of sea birds roosting there, when he discovered San Simeon Bay in 1542. The name still remains attached to the Hearst Ranch today. George Hearst also acquired 1,340 acres of the Rancho Santa Rosa at this time, adding the 4,469 acre Rancho San Simeon in 1867. All of these were old Mexican land grants which would form the nucleus of ranch lands passed on to his son, and he continued to add to these holdings.

1865 AD-1866 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — Hearst as a Democrat was appointed a member of the California State Assembly, one of 12 members representing San Francisco.

GEORGE HEARST’S FAT PARTNER LLOYD TEVIS AT THE HEARST RANCH IN SAN SIMEON

1868 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — Tevis (Hearst partner) became partners with others in founding the Pacific Union Express Company between Reno and Virginia City, Nevada, and received a ten-year exclusive contract to operate over the Central Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad.

1874 AD-1875 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — Gen. Custer with his regiment of cavalry and a corps of scientists came down from Fort Abraham Lincoln, entering the Hills from the west side, passing through them, scaling Harney Peak en route and discovering gold around French Creek, near the city of Custer. This report of Custer’s exploration created great excitement and a rush of gold hunters was precipitated; but the government intervened and attempted to keep the miners out until a treaty with the Indians could be negotiated. In the spring of 1875 the government sent Dr. Walter P. Jenney, under a military escort in command of Col. Richard I. Dodge, to make a geological reconnaissance of the hills, and he substantially verified the findings of Custer.

1875 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — The government assembled at Red Cloud Agency all of the Indians claiming rights in the Hills, for the purpose of negotiating a treaty, but was unable to reach an agreement. After that the military withdrew all active opposition to miners entering the region and during the fall and winter some 15,000 hopeful prospectors flooded the area, chiefly near Custer.

1875 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — November 13 Frank Bryant found gold in Deadwood while hunting deer, and within days commenced prospecting in Deadwood gulch. He supposedly wrote on a spruce tree that, ‘We the undersigned, claim three hundred (300) feet below this notice for discovery, and nine hundred (900) feet or three claims above this notice for mining purposes.” — Frank S. Bryant, William Cudney, W.H. Coder.

1875 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — Deadwood in western South Dakota in a narrow canyon in the Black Hills was incorporated, and is only 30 miles east of the Wyoming border. Deadwood Gulch, in the canyon had many streets built up its steep sides. The original camp was called Deadwood because of the vast amount of dead and down timber in the region. The town was first populated during the gold rush in the Black Hills.

1876 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — Deadwood gulch was staked off in forty placer-mining claims. The towns of Montana City, North and South Deadwood, Fountain City, Chinatown and Cleveland grew up rapidly; all these now part of city of Deadwood. Once Gold was discovered in Deadwood Gulch, a stampede to the diggings almost depopulated the town of Custer in the spring of 1876. A provisional government was organized and E.B. Farnum chosen mayor who also held court sitting on a sack of flour or a box of bacon, dispensing justice with an impartial hand. The council Sol Star and Colonel Stapleton was city marshal. Al Swearingen opens the Gem Saloon and Dance Hall and in 1877 added the Gem Theatre.

1876 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — The Pioneer became the first newspaper published in the Black Hills. It was first owned by W.A. McLaughlin and A.W. Merrick. It says in one of its first issues: “Bustle and confusion was prevalent everywhere. Each day and almost each hour witnessed the arrival of greater or less parties of gold seekers who, finding some eligible location to corral their wagons or pitch their tents, immediately mixed with the throng and became one of us. Glowing reports filled the air. Placers yielded fabulously, and quartz brilliant with gold passed from hand to hand. Speculation in town lots amounted to a furore of the wildest kind. Everyone wanted to buy real estate; all did who could. Building was at its height, taxing to the utmost Boughton and Berry’s sawmill which stood on Sherman street and was in continuous operation….Saloons multiplied astonishingly, and gambling was carried on without limit and without regard to hours–in fact all hours, day and night, were alike–and “always open” the motto of all. C.H. Wagner opened the first resemblance of a hotel–the Grand Central–and was speedily followed by Jimmy Vandoniker with the IXL. Both houses did an immense business from the start, it being considered a luxury to occupy a chair in the office during the night. The first practicing physician was Dr. McKinney.

1876 AD-1877 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — There was much lawlessness and a considerable number of men were killed in the frequent quarrels. The town was full of gamblers and shooting was a common pastime. Seth Bullock and his partner, Sol Star, arrive in Deadwood with the intent of setting up a mercantile shop. Wild Bill was murdered. A band of Indians dashed into Crook City and stampeded all the horses that were running loose about the place…every man in town…went in pursuit. The people of “Deadwood had offered a reward of $200 for an Indian scalp, the aforesaid Mexican finding the Indian soon after, took his scalp and brought it to Deadwood expecting the reward. He got sixty dollars, went on a spree and before it was over he too was killed between Deadwood and Crook City.” According to the “Black Hills Daily Pioneer, smallpox broke out in the town (mild form). Also reported was that Seth Bullock is elected commissioner and fire warden. The Bella Union opens one month and a few days after Hickok’s death. The surrounding knolls were thickly grassed; cold, clear water stood in deep pools hemmed in by thick belts of timber; and there was an abundance of juicy wild plums, grapes and bull berries, and adding a grateful finish to meals, which included nearly everything that a man could desire, brought down in wagons by the enterprising dealers of Deadwood, who reaped a golden harvest. By the law of the community, a gold placer or ledge could be followed anywhere, regardless of other property rights; in consequence of this, the office of “The Pioneer” (newspaper) was on stilts, being kept in countenance by a Chinese laundryman whose establishment was in the same predicament. Miners were at work under them, and it looked as if it would be come economical to establish one’s self in a balloon in the first place. Gaming hells flourished, and all kinds of games of chance were to be found–three card monte, keno, faro, roulette and poker.

1877 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — Every alternate house was a gambling saloon, and each of them was carrying on a brisk business. The mines now in operation are all gluch, or sluice mines, although prospecting for quartz mining is constantly going on. Five or six, possibly ten, mines in the whole region pay from $200 to $2,000 per day. The largest amount I saw taken from any one excavation in a single day was $1,085, which was the result of the work of seven men employed by the owner. The average Deadwood gluch mine paid poor wages. Seven out of every ten men in the whole region have no money and no means of getting any. The Deadwood ground is all taken up, and men do not dare to go out prospecting away from the main body, on account of the Indians. Quartz mines were the only resource left and required capital, machinery and mills for the crushing of ore and men of wealth like George Hearst wanted these mining opportunities. Most of the men were laboring men, inexperienced as miners. The mineral riches of the Black Hills cannot be developed for fully twenty-five years to come. Farming there is out of the question as heavy frosts begin in September; snow-storms did not cease until almost summer. Every farmer will see what a country where winter reigns from September to June cannot support its inhabitants upon its agricultural products. It follows, then, that the necessaries of life were imported at immense cost. During a greater part of the year ice and snow prevented placer-mining. Men had to earn enough money in two months of labor to subsist through ten months of idleness. Many miners and engineers, grew gray in this though experience. Any trip to Deadwood was exceedingly dangerous, so costs were high and few gold-hunter succeeded in surviving his hardships and getting through alive. Profits for most did not exist.

1878 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — Conveniences found nowhere else in the hills included many large jobbing houses, retail stores of every description; two excellent hotels; two daily, one weekly, and one semi-monthly papers; two churches–Congregational and Catholic schools; the telegraph; a fire department; efficient constabulary force; a large and most excellent society that is daily increasing; and all the concomitants of a well-regulated and prosperous community. Three daily mails, a money order post office, the telegraph and banks, present facilities for conducting business, equal with those elsewhere enjoyed. Comfortable dwellings, marts of trade of all kinds, keeping stocks of graded qualities to suit the tastes and purses of every one, the poor as well as the rich; a charming climate, plenty of vigorous exercise and universal prosperity, makes life in the Hills both pleasant and healthful. A great population had crowded into the narrow gulch and there was a large accumulation of personal property.

1879 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — Sol Star becomes postmaster of Deadwood. A great fire reportedly spread to a nearby hardware store, and eight kegs of gunpowder blew up turning the town into a furnace. The fire apparatus was destroyed before the firemen could reach it and the city was left utterly at the mercy of the flames. There was little insurance. Three hundred buildings were destroyed and two thousand people were left homeless. Fortunately there was no loss of life. With the courage of pioneers the citizens at once rebuilt, laying the foundation of the Deadwood that endures. The new houses were built from brick or stone, rather than wood, to help prevent further devastating fires.

1880 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — It was reported in the Deadwood News that the honor of discovering Deadwood Gulch probably belongs to Dan Meckles in 1875 AD, who with a party of seven were sluicing on Castle Creek. This party had packed an old wagon box, in small pieces, of which they had made a sluice box and had undergone great hardships to reach Castle Creek, and after three days’ hard work had cleaned up $3-10. They were discouraged but then Meckles came into camp and announced that he had discovered a gulch where he could get 50 cents to the pan. The group wandered up near the base of Bald Mountain and down Deadwood Gulch and panned out the first panful of dirt and got 50 cents; others tried it with equal success. Convinced that they had struck it, they built the first cabin in the gulch and named it Deadwood Gulch because of the immense amount of dead timber which filled the gulch. They had saddle and pack animals, some tools and a little stock of provisions. Elk and deer were abundant and they had all the meat they wanted. They quickly staked off their claims, 300 feet long up and down the gulch, and as wide as the gulch. In a few days they were joined by a party from Montana, and had camped where Spearfish City stands. Nearly all of them were delighted with the area. Mr. R.H. Evans, picked out a ranch and quit mining to farm on land one mile below Spearfish, and became one of the most successful grangers in the country. Others did lumbering. Population increased rapidly, and in December at a meeting the district was named the Lost Mining District, and William Laudner was elected recorder.

1880 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — The sheriff of Deadwood was a John. J. Manning, with his brother Thomas and cousin John acting as deputies.

1880 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — George Hearst gained control of the San Francisco Examiner to control the PRESS. Seven years later he gave it to his son.  Elected to the U.S. Senate, he gave it to his son, William Randolph Hearst, who was then 23 years old.  William was a total “MaMa’s Boy” and got everything he wanted from the family by asking his mother.  The fake story is the elder Hearst “received the failing paper as partial payment of a poker debt.”

1883 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — Abnormal snows and rains sent the mountain streams down the gulches in torrents and wiped out Deadwood, but again it was rebuilt. The wild days of the history of Deadwood include the period from 1877 AD to 1885 AD. In 1880, its mining-camp character disappeared totally only several years after that time.

1884 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — Sol Star wins election, and becomes Mayor of Deadwood but soon became badly crippled with rheumatism.

1886 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — Hearst was appointed to five months as US Senator to fill the vacancy caused by the death of John F. Miller, and served for five months.

3 minute video — ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT REPRISAL ON GEORGE HEARST FOR MURDERING A COMPETITOR – WOMAN SHOT HEARST IN A REPRISAL BUT DID NOT KILL HEARST.

George Hearst was the father of William Randolph Hearst who faked the Spanish-American War. George Hearst used murders and assassinations to intimidate his competitors into selling him their gold and silver mines. This is one case dramatized in Deadwood, Dakota Territory in 1880s.

1886 AD-1890 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — The Chicago and Northwestern railroad reached the Black Hills, via Northern Nebraska and was completed into Deadwood in 1890.

1887 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — Gem Saloon was sold for back taxes with over 75 saloons in Deadwood at the peak. Stage Lines were established from Laramie, Sidney, Fort Pierre and Bismark. Seth Bullock loses when he runs for sheriff and John Manning wins.

1887 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — Discovered written on a slab of rock called the “Thoen Stone” was found at Spearfish by Louis and Ivan Thoen. Reportedly, the message on the stone was that seven men, led by Ezra Kind, had come to the hills in 1833 hunting gold, and that they were attacked by Indians. Apparently they perished soon after.

1887 AD-1891 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — Hearst was elected to the Senate as a Democrat and served until his death in 1891 AD. During his time as Senator, he accomplished very little and spoke only a few times on matters of mining in the West.

1887 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — William Randolph Hearst insisted on conniving George Hearst letting have a gift and take control of one of his father’s holdings, the San Francisco Examiner, which became the foundation of the Hearst publishing empire initially the paper was to offset the newspaper attack on George Hearst regarding his criminal murderous swindle of one of his biggest investments, the Homestake Mine in South Dakota in 1877 AD that remained active until 2002 AD. So William Randolph Hearst entered the publishing business after being given control of The San Francisco Examiner by his wealthy conniving father, George. In New York City, he acquired The New York Journal and fought a bitter circulation war with Joseph Pulitzer’s New York World that sold papers by giant headlines over lurid stories featuring crime, corruption, graphics, sex, and innuendo. Acquiring more newspapers, Hearst created a chain that numbered nearly thirty papers in major American cities at its peak. He later expanded to magazines, creating the largest newspaper and magazine business in the world.

1887 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — George Hearst’s association with Haggin and Tevis inspired him to begin acquiring land grants and ranchos of his own and to expand his natural interest in horse breeding. All three men were associates of Leland Stanford (funded Stanford University) and acquired trotting stock from him and other California breeders, including some horses tracing to Morgan blood. Hearst acquired the old SPANISH LAND GRANT of Rancho Piedra Blanca at San Simeon that later his son built the Hearst Castle upon and the Hearst family still runs it without paying a dime in taxes, as it was made a state historic sits. George Hearst built a ranch house on the giant property as he hated having neighbors (people) around him. The site includes a large stable. He owned 5,322 square miles of still nearly vacant land with no one in sight. It is likely that this is the most valuable undeveloped land in all of California. George and Phoebe’s residence on the property still exists at the base of the hill on which the castle is built. They also had a home in a prestigious area of San Francisco at the corner of Chestnut and Leavenworth.

1869 AD-1892 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — Stock of Wells Fargo & Company declined in price, Tevis and his associates purchased quantities of it, and by the fall of 1869 Tevis was in control of Wells Fargo and arranged for the consolidation of Pacific Union Express and Wells Fargo in 1870. Tevis was elected vice president and a director of Wells Fargo in 1870 and became president of Wells Fargo from 1872 AD-1892 AD. Tevis used his position to become a large shareholder of the Spring Valley Water Company, the Risdon Iron Works, the Occidental & Oriental Steamship Company, and the Sutro Tunnel Company of Virginia City. Tevis also promoted the Southern Pacific Railroad and acted as president of the company (in place of Stanford of Stanford University fame) in 1869-70 after its acquisition by the Big Four – Stanford, Hopkins, Crocker and Collis P. Huntington. “The Big Four” was the name of railroad owners who built the Central Pacific Railroad, which formed the western portion through the Sierra Nevada and the Rocky Mountains of the First Transcontinental Railroad in the United States, built from the mid-continent at the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean during the middle and late 1860s. Tevis went into gold, silver and copper mining as part-owner of gold and silver mines in California, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, and South Dakota forming and they swindled the Homestake gold mine in the Black Hills of Dakota from local owners.

1872 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — Hearst met Marcus Daly in the Comstock work and Daly suggested to Hearst the Ontario silver mine in Park City, Utah. The Ontario mine made Hearst during the Panic of 1873 with $17 million overt ten years. Hearst later financed Daly to operate his Anaconda mine in Butte, Montana and owned a major interest in that mine as well.

1874 AD-1880s AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — Hearst interests went beyond the Comstock gold mine & Ontario silver mine to the Pacific mine in Pinos Altos, New Mexico, the Homestake gold mine in 1876 AD in South Dakota (dramatized his criminal nature in the HBO television series Deadwood), and the 1881 AD Anaconda Copper Mine in Montana. Hearst also held interest in Cerro de Pasco Mine in Peru. Hearst hated mining towns and miners who he considered below his high status. He likely became involved with British investors and adopted their levels of criminality and ruthlessness. Many experienced people in mining dealing learned from their Cornwall, England experiences. Note: 1816 AD: Francisco Uville arranged for steam engines made by Richard Trevithick of Cornwall, England, to be installed in Cerro de Pasco in 1816 to pump water from the mines and allow lower levels to be reached. Three major silver ore mines in the area include the Machcan, Atacocha, and Milpo.

1877 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — George Hearst’s mining enterprises were firmly in his pocket when he used murder and attempted assassinations to buy the Homestake mine in the Black Hills of Lead, South Dakota. This proved to be a very large body of ore which continued producing through 2001 with a total yield of 39.8 million ounces of gold and nine million ounces of silver through the course of its operation.

1880 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — George Hearst settled down to developing his Piedra Blanca Rancho, and pursuing his interests of politics, acquiring land, and breeding horses. And as he promised the newspaper editor in Deadwood he gained control of the San Francisco paper, The Examiner to further his political interests.

1882 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — George Hearst lost as an unsuccessful Democratic candidate for Governor of California.

1885 AD: WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST RESORTED TO LIES AND FAKERY OF WARS TO GAIN MORE RICHES — William Randolph Hearst entered Harvard University, primarily due to his mother’s urging. After three years of failing to improve his grades and focus during a period of academic probation, the dean felt he was not a good example for the other students, and no amount of persuasion on Phoebe’s part would change the dean’s mind, so William was unable to return for his final year.

1886 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — George Hearst after receiving notice of the surrender of the famous Indian Chief Geronimo, Hearst bought most of the Babicora ranch near Chihuahua, Mexico, at just 20 to 40 cents per acre eventually reaching 1.5 million acres. William Hearst also loved land at a bargain and on visiting the new ranch wrote his mother that he didn’t see what was to prevent them from owning all of Mexico and running it to suit themselves.

1889 AD: WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST RESORTED TO LIES AND FAKERY OF WARS TO GAIN MORE RICHES — William Randolph Hearst hired S.S. (Sam) Chamberlain, of Europe, as managing editor and changed the Examiner from an evening to a morning paper and using “spectacularizing yellow journalism headlines” they increased the paper’s popularity grew. He used such writers as Ambrose Bierce, Mark Twain, and the San Francisco-born Jack London to enhance his subscriptions. Hearst disliked average Americans and particularly minorities and thought of them as ignorant and worthless. He tried to “EDUCATE” them with “his yellow journalism” and major use of foreign correspondents and splashy coverage of scandals supplying often more than just the FRONT page to scandal coverage.

1891 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — George Hearst owned Thoroughbreds, mostly Morgan horses & a racing stable. Following Hearst’s death the stables and horses were auctioned off at a dispersal sale. Hearst died at aged 70, in Washington. He is buried with his wife and son in Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Colma, California. The Hearst Memorial Mining Building on the Berkeley campus is dedicated to his memory. Phoebe Apperson Hearst inherited her husband’s wealth which their son, William Randolph Hearst took control over.

1891 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — George Hearst when he died left control of all the finances with Phoebe, his wife and she continued to manage the estate, although she was generous with her only son.

1892 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — Deadwood lost its trees (pines) shorn to supply the great gold reduction works with fuel, including Hearst. The streams that tumbling down were all of a reddish-brown interrupted in their course, and this is the way they have returned to their beds, after a whirl through the great mills and a close contact with gold. Hearst was a big polluter.

1892 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — Sol Star leaves Deadwood to visit Minneapolis, MN where he will attend the Republican National Convention.

1897 AD: GEORGE HEARST SWINDLER WHO RESORTED TO MURDER AND ASSASSINATION TO GET GOLD — The Hearst share of the Anaconda copper properties was sold to an English syndicate. Two years later in May 1899, Tevis, Haggin and Daly sold their shares to a syndicate led by John D. Rockefeller. For his share Tevis is said to have received $8 million.

1898 AD: WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST RESORTED TO LIES AND FAKERY OF WARS TO GAIN MORE RICHES — William Randolph Hearst sensationalized the Spanish atrocities in Cuba and called for war against Spain. He helped fake that war and others.

1898 AD: WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST RESORTED TO LIES AND FAKERY OF WARS TO GAIN MORE RICHES — William Randolph Hearst helped FAKE A WAR and make Teddy Roosevelt and his so-called “ROUGH RIDERS” into HEROS – Simply by faking the Spanish–American War and Teddy’s so-called “leading a daring charge up San Juan Hill” that never happened. The late 1890s, U.S. public opinion was agitated by anti-Spanish propaganda led by newspaper publishers such as Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst which used yellow journalism to call for war. The business community across the United States had just recovered from a deep depression and feared that a war would reverse the gains. It lobbied vigorously against going to war. THE Pulitzer Prize is another FARCE like the NOBLE PRIZE to a crook that caused 7+ wars. 1898 AD: William Randolph Hearst was a key propagandist to create the US 1898 annexation of the Philippines.

1900 AD: Phoebe Hearst built a seven-story castle in the Gothic style castle near Mt. Shasta, California and called the place Wyntoon and the place had 75 miles of horseback trails and was a favorite retreat of her grandsons. It was also Phoebe who first discovered the famous architect, Julia Morgan. Hearst projects kept her busy for the rest of career, and Julia is best known for her design of the Hearst Castle, she was the first woman architect licensed in California and went on to design nearly 800 buildings.

1903 AD: DEADWOOD GOLD FEVER — “Calamity Jane” Cannary Burk dies in nearby Terry, S.D. She is buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, next to “Wild Bill” Hickok in Deadwood.

1903 AD: WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST RESORTED TO LIES AND FAKERY OF WARS TO GAIN MORE RICHES — William Randolph Hearst married to 22-year-old Millicent Wilson who bore him sons, including twins. The family expeditions to Camp Hill continued, and the boys also enjoyed long visits staying with their grandmother during the summers.

1903 AD-1907 AD: WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST RESORTED TO LIES AND FAKERY OF WARS TO GAIN MORE RICHES — William Randolph Hearst was a Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives from New York. He pretended to be a progressive for the working people when he despised the average American and all minorities as being below him. He called the place simply “The Ranch,” and as the magnificent structure took shape under Julia’s design, he referred to it as “La Cuesta Encantada,” or “Enchanted Hill.” The work began in 1919 and would continue for the next 28 years, never being completely finished. The “Castle” would grow to include the large “Casa Grande” with a total of 115 rooms, with 38 bedrooms, 42 bathrooms, and 30 replaces, as well as three large guest houses which were mansions in their own right. There were also extensive gardens and two large pools, the indoor Roman pool being inlaid with gold, and a 40 stall stable for the horses behind La Casa Grande. Hearst also assimilated the world’s largest private zoo at San Simeon, complete with all kinds of animals. These included giraffes, camels, bison, lions, tigers, polar bears, zebras, an elephant, chimpanzees, and many more. La Cuesta Encantada was ready for full-time occupancy in 1927. Following would be 20 years of lively entertainment that would include many of Hollywood’s brightest stars as guests. It was in a way, a memorial to both Hearst’s parents, as it allowed him to gather in one place an enormous collection of art treasures his mother had taught him to love, as well as continuing his father’s passion for acquiring land.

Hearst also added the a hotel in Monterey County, California, that was completed in 1930 for use by William Randolph Hearst as temporary housing for his employees and guests and headquarters for activities taking place on the surrounding land. The lodge building, designed by architect Julia Morgan, replaced and expanded upon an earlier wooden structure known as the Milpitas Ranch House which was destroyed by fire in the 1920s. The 1930 hotel has also been known as Milpitas Hacienda, Hacienda Guest Lodge and Milpitas Ranchhouse, under which name the property was placed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 AD. The land also included the old Mission San Antonio de Padua. George Hearst had spent $50,000 to repair the Old Mission San Antonio de Padua, located about one mile from his Milpitas Hacienda. The lands George Hearst added to his ranch became part of his massive private game hunting reserve that later included animals from Africa for them to kill. These lands were part of two historic Spanish missions, and as such had already been home to large cattle and horse breeding operations for nearly a hundred years by the time they came into the Hearst family. Randolph Hearst commissioned Julia Morgan to design a smaller hacienda near the northern boundaries of his ranch, close to the tiny settlement of Jolon and less than a mile from the historic Mission San Antonio de Padua. This Milpitas Hacienda was built to house cowboys, and also to serve as a destination for Hearst’s more adventuresome guests on the rigorous 30 mile ride through the brushy rattlesnake infested country. To keep in touch with his expanding newspaper enterprises, Hearst strung a telephone line along the 36 cowboy camps of the ranch all along this route clear to Jolon.

Hearst hated minorities, and he used his chain of newspapers to aggravate racial tensions at every opportunity. Hearst especially hated Mexicans. Hearst papers portrayed Mexicans as lazy, degenerate, and violent, and as marijuana smokers and job stealers. The real motive behind this prejudice may well have been that Hearst had lost 800,000 acres of prime timberland to the rebel Pancho Villa, suggesting that Hearst’s racism was fueled by Mexican threat to his empire. Hearst created an ongoing vicious campaign blaming J. Bruce Ismay, printing vicious cartoons and asking for the name of “White Star: to be changed to “Yellow Liver”. He attacked maliciously and was kept careful controlled by his psychiatrist in Beverly Hills until his death at 88. He disinherited his sons and died withdrawn from society, a miserable old man, an ironic poetic justice for the lives he tried to destroy.
