A GOOD Samaritan was menaced with a weapon and two women robbed in a street connected with armed robberies this morning.
In one of the crimes, a woman was robbed of her handbag by a woman she had helped to her feet in Melbourne.
The victim, 23, was walking along Powlett Street at 1.40am (AEDT) when she noticed a woman lying face-down in a driveway, apparently unconscious.
When she stopped to help, the woman stood, produced a blunt weapon and demanded her wallet.
The victim then fled as her attacker tried to snatch her handbag.
The armed woman continued to chase even after the bag was dropped.
A car waiting parked nearby then picked up the thief.
About 10 minutes earlier, two women were walking along Hoddle Street in Richmond when a car pulled over and a man and woman got out.

The pulled knives and threatened the victims, one of who handed over her handbag.
The other ran and, after refusing to hand over her bag, her pursuer tried to stab her.

She wore a black top and pants and black beanie.
Her accomplice was aged in his 30s, about 170cm tall, with a dark complexion and stocky build.
He was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt with buttons and a dark beanie at the time of the incident.
A dark sedan or hatch vehicle was sighted at both scenes.
Detectives believe the two incidents may be related and are urging witnesses to come forward.
