ONE lucky South Australian’s dreams came true after claiming a stake in last night’s mammoth Oz Lotto jackpot.

The lucky millionaire will split the Division 1 prize money three ways to scoop almost $25 million in the big win.

An SA Lotteries spokeswoman said the winner comes from the western suburbs of Adelaide.

The other two jackpot winners were from New South Wales and Victoria.

The lucky Victorian Division 1 winner was joined by eight other Victorians who won more than $47,000 each in the Division 2 prize, and who made up almost 648,000 Victorians who reaped the rewards of last night’s lottery draw.

The winning numbers were 17, 8, 28, 34, 41, 42, and 6, with supplementary numbers 4 and 19.

Millions of Australians were glued to their television screens anxious to find out whether they held the winning numbers for the second biggest jackpot in Lotto history.

A total prize pool of $119.6 million split between 2.2 million Australians.

Punters stampeded Lotto agencies all day, making a last-minute grab for a slice of Australia’s second largest lottery jackpot.

People queued up to 50 deep at some stores, strangers joking with each about whether they would bother turning up for work today if they took out the big prize.

The late run on tickets saw 7600 entries a minute between 4 and 5pm.

The frenzy reached fever pitch when the website struggled under the weight of people checking their numbers.

Lottery spokeswoman Zoe Noble said the entries were expected to go well beyond the 7.5 million forecast.

She said the average Australian paid $20 each to try their fortunes.

The jackpot was part of a staggering $110 million of prize money to be drawn this week.

The rest of us losers can take some solace in knowing that our numbers still might land us some cash after more than 2.2 million prizes were won across Australia in divisions two to seven.

And even if that doesn’t work out there’s always this week’s $20 million Powerball jackpot this Thursday and a $20 million Superdraw this Saturday.
