The nation’s road toll has risen to five with a double fatality in Queensland and a single death in NSW on Christmas Eve.
Two men, aged 81 and 37, died at the scene of the two-vehicle crash in Queensland, which occurred about 7pm on the Bunya Highway at Wondai, about 240km northwest of Brisbane.
A woman travelling in the second vehicle was airlifted to a Brisbane hospital with serious injuries, a statement from Queensland Police said.
Earlier, an 83-year-old man died after his vehicle collided with a utility about 11.55am on the Kings Highway in Warri, NSW.
The fatalities bring the national road toll to five after the deaths of a motorcyclist in South Australia on Saturday and a pedestrian in Victoria on Friday.
