Three men of Italian descent have been arrested in Sydney for alleged involvement in mafia-style organised crime.
Following an ongoing investigation, Firearms and Organised Crime Squad detectives arrested a 40-year-old man in Rossmore in western Sydney about 7.30am (AEST) on Wednesday.
They also seized five rifles and a shotgun which he was allegedly keeping in nearby Fairfield, police said.
An hour later, two brothers aged 23 and 31 were arrested in Leichhardt in Sydney’s inner west.
Detectives allege the three men – all of Italian descent – have links to a mafia-style organised-crime group supplying prohibited drugs.
Charges are expected to be laid later on Wednesday, police said.
Anyone with information about the supply of illegal drugs or firearms can report it anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
