Security officials said that unknown armed men riding on a motorcycle opened fire at a shop in Quetta, Balochistan province, on Monday night and killed one person and wounded another.
The incident “could be an incident of sectarian targeted killing,” officials said.
In another incident, one police official was killed in a landmine explosion in the Pirkoh area of Dera Bugti in the southwestern province.
In the southern port city of Karachi in Sindh province, unidentified gunmen on Tuesday killed a political activist from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), identified as Mansoor Akhtar, and injured two others.
Militants in Pakistan have carried out numerous attacks on security forces as well as civilians, and managed to spread their influence in various regions of the country, despite frequent offensives by the Pakistani army.
More than 35,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001 when Pakistan joined an alliance with the US on the so-called war on terror.
Thousands more have been displaced by the wave of violence and militancy sweeping the country.
