A man who died when he rode his motorcycle over an embankment in Victoria’s east has become the seventh motorcyclist to die on the state’s roads this month.
The man crashed his motorcycle over the embankment as he road along Briagolong Road in Stratford about 8.43am (AEDT) on Sunday.
He died at the scene.
Less than 24-hours earlier, a 68-year-old man died when he crashed his motorcycle while travelling with a group of 20 riders in Beech Forest, in Victoria’s south.
The crash follows another road accident on Saturday in Victoria’s north, where a man died after his car hit a tree shortly after leading police on a high speed chase.
The man sped from police when they tried to pull him over as he drove through Cobram about 9.55pm (AEDT) on Saturday.
Police briefly gave chase but called off the pursuit when the car reached excessive speeds.
Minutes later, they were called to the scene of the accident.
The 19-year-old Berrigan man died at the scene.
Victoria’s Police Ethical Standards Department will oversee the investigation into the fatal crash.
Victoria’s road toll now stands at 276, two more than the same time last year.
