Three dead in Darwin murder-suicide

Three people are dead including two young children in what Darwin police believe is a double murder-suicide.

The three bodies were discovered this morning and include a 23-year-old man and two children under the age of 10, a police spokeswoman said.

“It is believed to be a murder-suicide,” she said.

The children found dead at a premises in the Darwin suburb of Leanyer were a young boy and a girl.

It is understood the bodies were found about 8am, after police responded to a call from someone concerned at the children’s welfare.

Police made the grisly find during a search of the home.

Detectives are yet to determine the relationship, if any, between the trio but given one of the children is nearly 10 years old, it is not thought the 23-year-old male was the father of both young victims.

There were no gunshot or stab wounds on the bodies, and police are yet to determine how they died.
