Thousands of Queensland public servants are expected to rally on Monday outside parliament house over job cuts.
The unions are at war with the state government after about 3000 temporary contract workers were axed from the public sector.
Premier Campbell Newman has said the state can’t afford 20,000 public servants, sparking fears that permanent workers will also be purged.
Public sector union Together says the government is also attacking workers’ rights.
At the end of the month 55,000 workers will no longer be protected from forced redundancies when their enterprise bargaining agreements (EBAs) expire, Together secretary Alex Scott says.
Mr Scott says this will give director-generals of state government departments the power to roll out forced redundancies.
The rally is scheduled to start at 5.30pm (AEST).
