Thousands turned out to watch as the Lewes Bonfire Society torched a David Cameron effigy on Guy Fawkes night.
The giant sculpture, depicting the Prime Minister in Union Jack underwear, holding a pig’s head in his lap, was paraded through the narrow streets of Lewes, East Sussex, which has been dubbed the UK’s bonfire capital.
The annual event in Lewes is well knows for using satirical creations to poke fun at famous or controversial figures.

The Cameron sculpture was designed with reference to the recent “piggate” allegations, which claim that Mr Cameron put “a private part of his anatomy into a dead pig’s mouth” during an initiation ceremony at university.
