A girl from Prince William County, VA vanquished her 8th grade competition
Think you’re good at spelling? Maybe you are, but we’re willing to bet you’re not as good as Lori Anne Madison, a 6-year-old genius from Virginia who qualified for the 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Madison is already a spelling bee champion. To qualify for the national competition, Madison had to beat out all other elementary and middle school students from Prince William County, Virginia in a county competition last week. Madison is home schooled and takes courses on etymology.
The Scripps National Spelling Bee is open to students 14-years-old or younger who have not yet passed the eighth grade. Madison will travel to Washington, D.C., to compete between May 29 and June 1.
