THESE ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CRYSTALS ON EARTH, AND THEY’RE ALSO DEADLY

As an avid stone collector, I can tell you that I love finding rare and beautiful stones and crystals. The energy they augment in my home is absolutely delightful. There are more than 4,000 unique types of minerals, and most of them are perfectly harmless! Some, however, are absolutely deadly. Below are a list of crystals to look at, but maybe not touch.

Galena

Galena can be found nearly anywhere on Earth within the planet’s crust. It looks pretty harmless, but is incredibly brittle. It poses the risk of lead poisoning to those who touch it or inhale dust from the mineral. Beautiful, but don’t mess with this one!

Orpiment

Orpiment is a naturally occurring mineral found near hydrothermal vents. It is made of sulfur and arsenic. Even so much as touching one of these crystals is enough to release it’s neurotoxin and cause you to become very ill. Some indigenous cultures used orpiment to tip their arrowheads, making them much deadlier in combat.

Stibnite

Stibnite, since its discovery, has been used as an alternative to silver, often finding its way into our eating utensils. This stone produces similar effects in humans as arsenic poisoning, resulting in the deaths of many before they stopped using it. If you add this one to your collection, take precautions when handling.

Arsenopyrite

This stone, like the others we’ve mentioned, are absolutely stunning. Arsenopyrite, otherwise known as arsenic iron sulfide, looks a lot like pyrite, or fool’s gold, but when heated, it releases its lethal components in the form of gas. If you ever come into contact with this stone, be careful!

Chalcanthite

Of all the stones on my list, this is my favorite. It’s also one of the deadliest. When introduced to water, this beautiful blue crystal breaks down and proceeds to kill any plants and animals it comes into contact with. This stone has been used to clear ponds of unwanted plant growth.

Cinnabar

Cinnabar, while beautiful, is one of the most toxic minerals known to humanity. Even a slight disturbance of the stone releases mercury, which can result in tremors and even death. It forms naturally near sulfur deposits and volcanoes. Be careful with this one!
