By Dr. Patrick Slattery — Another news cycle dominated by the “KKK’s Trump endorsement” has come and gone, and now Super Tuesday, the moment of truth, is upon us. The indications are that, with any luck, the voters will disavow the the ridiculous and desperate attempts by the media to stop Trump with a fictionalized smear campaign.
The Fox News headline was typical: “Rubio, Cruz and Clinton aim attacks at Trump following KKK endorsement.” What is wrong with this picture?
First of all, the KKK did not endorse Donald Trump. While I do not profess to be an expert on the KKK, according to Wikipedia the last time there was a national KKK organization was in the 1940s, which before Dr. Duke was even born. Since then, anyone who wants can form a chapter can claim to be KKK.
As a college student, Dr. Duke and some friends formed such a group, which included an oath to eschew violence and obey the law. A few years later he left, realizing that however principled he and his associates might be, there was no way to avoid being tainted by what other groups claiming the KKK moniker might do in other areas or in other times. While he defends his motivations, he has admitted his mistake and moved on, getting elected to public office, authoring best-selling books, and earning a Ph.D.
However, the haters in the media have not moved on. Because they fear his powerful critique of the media moguls’ very nefarious role in the destruction of traditional America, they counter every well-researched charge he makes against them with an ad hominem attack equating him with his ancient association.
A perfect example was when last winter he condemned the completely degenerate lyrics of Nicki Minaj song, and was slammed roundly with ludicrous headlines such as “Ku Klux Klan Attacks Nicki Minaj: KKK Claims Black People Didn’t Invent Hip Hop.”
Just as was the case in the Nicki Minaj controversy, in which the actual substance of Dr. Duke’s criticism went unreported in the media (with the exception of some leading black hiphop websites, which actually agreed with him), this latest controversy is simply falsely equating Dr. Duke, and by extension Donald Trump, with the KKK without any consideration of the stated reasons for Dr. Duke’s support for Mr. Trump.
The fact is that on our show we specified two overriding reasons for voting for Mr. Trump, despite the various reservations we have. First of all, all the other candidates are advocating policies that, if carried out, would inevitably lead to an insane and devastating war with Russia. Trump alone is calling for diplomacy. America’s most distinguished Russia expert, Princeton University Professor Emeritus Stephen F. Cohen, has made the exact same point, and, like us, has shamed the media for allowing the candidates to warmonger without any debate about the dire consequences of their proposals. (It deserves mention that just as the media tries to silence Dr. Duke with slander, Professor Cohen, who was once a frequent commentator on network television, now is virtually shunned by the mainstream media, with the lone exception of the John Batchelor Show.)
The second reason is that Trump alone has shown a commitment solving the immigration crisis in a way that would secure our border from drugs, crime, and unwanted migration while restoring the rule of law. But these very legitimate reasons for Dr. Duke’s support get completely ignored amidst spurious charges of “white supremacy” and KKK associations. There was a surreal moment on the PBS News Hour this evening when their “political experts” discussed Trump’s failure to unequivocally condemn David Duke without a word about the reason for Duke’s support, and then transitioned to the next segment, which included video featuring thousands of Middle Eastern men using battering rams to smash down the border gate between Greece and Macedonia.
Indeed, with all the baseless distractions about a non-existent KKK endorsement, one cannot help but get the impression that the media actually wants drugs and crime flowing unimpeded across the border, wants to permanently transform the demographics of this country by importing limitless numbers of unskilled and unneeded immigrants, and, most shocking of all, actually wants World War III with Russia.
