With just a signature on an executive order, the President of the United States can gain unprecedented power.
An executive order is a document signed by the president that manages the operations of the Federal Government.
Additionally, presidents have been granted emergency powers that allow an acting President to take swift action during emergencies when there is not enough time for Congress to act.
This is known as the National Emergencies Act.
Presidents can issue an executive order that declares a national emergency.
Did you know we are currently still under a National Emergency concerning the COVID-19 pandemic?
Did you know that we are also under a National Emergency entitled, “Blocking Property of Certain Persons Contributing to the Situation in Ukraine” (Executive Order 13660)?
That’s not all.
The United States currently has 42 emergencies in effect, many of which have been renewed annually by the president(s).
When the president declares a national emergency, it gives the acting president 135 enhanced statutory powers.
The problem is that presidents overreach and use this ability to gain more power.
According to the Brennan Center for Justice, “Many [of these additional powers] are measured and sensible, but others seem like the stuff of authoritarian regimes: giving the president the power to take over domestic communications, seize Americans’ bank accounts, and deploy U.S. troops to any foreign country. Given how broad these powers are, it is critical to have adequate safeguards in place to prevent abuse.”
However, as the Brennan Center explains, “The National Emergencies Act, in its current form, lacks those protections. It allows the president to declare emergencies with nothing more than a signature on an executive order, and presidents can renew those emergencies every year ad infinitum.”
In other words, presidential powers keep building and building, gaining more and more control over us citizens.
The Latest Executive Order
President Biden quietly signed a few executive orders in the last couple of weeks that expand government surveillance EVEN MORE.
On March 1, 2023, the White House posted the Notice on the Continuation of the National Emergency with Respect to Ukraine.
In 2014, Executive Order 13660 was issued by President Obama “to deal with the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States constituted by the actions and policies of persons that undermine democratic processes and institutions in Ukraine; threaten its peace, security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity; and contribute to the misappropriation of its assets.”
Since 2014, Executive Order 13660 has been amended and renewed several times, which brings us to today.
Here is President Biden’s notice Message to Congress:
“Section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)) provides for the automatic termination of a national emergency unless, within 90 days prior to the anniversary date of its declaration, the President publishes in the Federal Register and transmits to the Congress a notice stating that the emergency is to continue in effect beyond the anniversary date. In accordance with this provision, I have sent to the Federal Register for publication the enclosed notice stating that the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13660 of March 6, 2014, which was expanded in scope in Executive Order 13661, Executive Order 13662, and Executive Order 14065, and under which additional steps were taken in Executive Order 13685 and Executive Order 13849, is to continue in effect beyond March 6, 2023.”
Essentially, this Executive Order allows the government to “deal with” any individuals who they deem a “threat” to Ukraine’s democratic processes.
Say, for instance, you post online that you are anti-war or against continuing to support Ukraine… you could be considered a threat, put under surveillance, and “dealt with.”
A Look Back at Executive Orders
It’s not just one specific Executive Order we need to worry about.
It is the fact that they can continue on and on.
Once granted more power, what President is going to willingly give that power back?
Keep in mind that if a president issues an Executive Order declaring a National Emergency, he immediately gains 135 additional statutory powers.
Now, consider the number of executive orders declared by each president.
- Joseph Biden – 107
- Donald Trump – 220
- Barack Obama – 276
- George W. Bush – 291
- Bill Clinton – 364
- George Bush – 166
We’ve written about the problems regarding other Executive Orders signed by President Biden, including Executive Order 14067 (digital currency) and Executive Order 13603 (National Defense Preparedness).
Executive Order 14067 attempts to develop a CBDC, which opens up even more potential for government surveillance (and the possibility of the government controlling your money).
It’s so concerning that Minnesota Congressman Emmer introduced the CBDC Anti-Surveillance Act on Feb. 22 to halt the progress of the Digital Dollar Project.
According to Emmer, “As the federal government seeks to maintain and expand financial control to which it has grown accustomed, the idea of the central bank digital currency has gained traction within the institutions of power in the United States as a government-controlled programmable money that can be easily weaponized into a surveillance tool.”
Executive Order 13603 issued under President Obama essentially gives the federal government power to seize control of everything, including:
- All commodities and products that are capable of being ingested by either human beings or animals
- All forms of energy
- All forms of civil transportation
- All usable water from all sources
- Health resources — drugs, biological products, medical devices, materials, facilities, health supplies, services and equipment
Terrifying, isn’t it?
The government has the power to seize essentially everything under the guise of national defense.
Executive Orders, used along with the National Emergency Act, give U.S. presidents unprecedented powers.
There is a clear overreach.
And it isn’t stopping. It’s only going to get worse.
How to Prepare as the Government Gains More Control
- Stay aware. Often, Executive Orders are signed quietly without fanfare, so they slip under the radar. Don’t let this happen. Stay aware. Listen to news sources you trust.
- Don’t rely on banks. Given the amount of surveillance and control going on, it’s only a matter of time before it includes financial surveillance. Keep cash on hand and buy gold and silver.
- Prepare to barter. If you don’t want the government controlling what you buy and how you spend your money, prepare to barter. Begin stocking up on items that the government may not want you to own, or popular vice items that people will pay dearly for.
- Keep emergency food on hand. The government can seize control of farms, meat packaging plants, and more. Always keep long-term emergency food on hand.
- Buy seeds. Start a seed vault, and make sure you know how to plant before you absolutely need to.
- Use alternative communication tools. It’s no secret that the government is surveilling social media. Use other forms of communication. Become virtually invisible by investing in a Waterproof EMP Faraday Backpack.
Government control is growing, friends. Stay alert.
