The Dilemma of Closed Minds

We all know that when confronted by undeniable proof that proves them wrong many people refuse to accept it. I am no psychiatrist but I think the term used is their ‘being in denial’. For example the person who on being informed of the death of a loved one refuses to accept it, even when shown the body. One can only suppose that it is some sort of survival mechanism.

Youngsters love to be frightened, provided it is in a safe environment. Once a person reaches a certain age they smile at their childhood innocence. They then unconsciously exchange the scary ogre for Adolf Hitler. The dark deeds of forest trolls become the sinister policies that led to the holocaust. The only difference between children’s fairy tales and adult fantasies are the content.

The findings of fraud-busting historians prove conclusively that the holocaust is every much a fairy tale as is Jack and the Beanstalk. The holocaust narrative is full of holes. Not a single newspaper, radio or TV broadcaster would dare to invite debate between fraud-busting professional historians and scribbling dribbling palace historians. They know their propaganda would be demolished.

screenhunter_314-nov-24-10-15Thanks to the freer internet undeniable proof that the holocaust is a swindle is already in the public domain. Yet many people still believe it. What happened? One is reminded of the Pavlov’s dog experiment otherwise known as respondent conditioning. Whenever Pavlov gave his dog food he also rang a bell. Each time he did so the animal salivated. When later he rang the bell but did not offer food, the canine nevertheless began to salivate.

Humans are wired the same way; show them a Swastika or mystical figure such as 6 million and they will salivate in anticipation of a sensual frisson of horror. This is what Adolf Hitler described as the Jewish use of the big lie. Tell a lie – the bigger the better – often enough and against their better judgment people continue to believe the big lie.

Try this test similar to that of Pavlov’s experiment. During dinner-table talks suggest that your company are brain-washed. This suggestion will cause much hilarity. Then ask how many Americans (British, Germans) died during World War Two. Not one will hazard a guess. Now ask how many Jews died. The knee-jerk Pavlovian response will be six million. You rest your case.

hitler_horrorUncomfortable evidence suggests that people actually like to be horrified. This is why movies like Psycho, the Silence of the Lambs, Blair Witch, and Poltergeist are so popular. Imagine next week’s mainstream media publish findings that exonerate Dracula of his misdeeds; we learn that the Count was unfairly maligned. Many would continue to believe the lie-version drummed into them. Why, because they have been pre-conditioned, brain-washed to believe the Count and Adolf Hitler to be reprehensible figures. Why let truth spoil a good story?

This is the challenge that faces fraud-busting historians. How the challenge can be met is open to suggestion. I suggest that satire, ridicule and disdain might succeed where undeniable evidence has failed to persuade the credulous. The child first learns that Santa Claus is a mythical figure by the derision of his better informed peers. If a mocking strategy was to be used in addition to academic evidence then I believe that success might be more easily achieved.
