Speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony in Tehran on Sunday, Abbasi stated that the fuel assembly has been produced and enriched to 20 percent level by Iranian scientists for delivery to Tehran Research Reactor, IRNA reported.
The AEOI chief added that necessary tests for the final approval of the fuel complex are underway.
Abbasi stressed that research activities and production of radio drugs is going on at the reactor.
In early April, AEOI officials said Iranian researchers have succeeded in producing fuel for Tehran Research Reactor.
On February 15, Iran placed the first indigenous fuel rods into the heart of the reactor. The fuel rods were produced at Isfahan nuclear facility and transferred to Tehran Research Reactor under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
By placing nuclear plates into the reactor, Iran has taken the final step in completing the nuclear fuel cycle.
