Teenage girls in police pursuit in Sydney

Three young teenage girls in a stolen car have led police on a hazardous pursuit through Sydney’s west.

Police say they came across two 13-year-old girls and a 14-year-old driving in a stolen silver Holden near Shalvey around 3am (AEDT) on Sunday.

After confirming the car was stolen, the police gave chase through the western suburbs of Blackett, Bidwill and Shalvey.

They allege the 13-year-old female driver stopped when she spotted spikes deployed on the road by the police.

All three girls were taken to a nearby police station, where one was charged with driving in a dangerous manner and car theft.

She was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Children’s Court on Sunday.

Police say the other two girls are likely to receive youth cautions.
