Jake Evans is the name of the 17-year-old murderer that has been trending on Twitter on Friday, Jan. 25 after the release of his four page written confession claiming that the horror movie “Halloween” inspired him to kill his mother and sister. MSN reported that the written confession has been introduced into the gruesome murder trial as a major piece of evidence.
The teen is currently on trial for the Oct. 3 murder of his 15-year-old sister, Mallory, and mother Jami in their upscale Aledo home.
Evans provided the police with a lengthy four-page written confession only hours after he was arrested, revealing that he had watched the 2007 Rob Zombie remake of John Carpenter’s “Halloween” three times the week he killed his mother and sister.
“Halloween” is a popular horror film about a 10-year-old boy who continues to murder several people 15-years after killing his sister.
Jake Evans’ confession reads;
“While watching it, I was amazed at how at ease the boy was during the murders and how little remorse he had. Afterward, I was thinking to myself it would be the same for me when I kill someone.”
Later, as his mother and sister watched the presidential debate that night, he said he “just sat in the living room thinking about how I was going to kill my family.”
He writes going into detail about how he went and got a knife.
“I went back upstairs and kept pacing back and forth imagining killing Mallory,” he said. “Thoughts of causing her pain kept entering my mind and were really bothering me. But then I’d think about the times she hurt my feelings.”
Evan’s confession continues on revealing that he ended up changing his mind about killing his family with the knife and described how he decided to use the .22 revolver that he had stolen from his grandfather instead, so that they would not feel anything.
The teen continues on revealing how he spent time thinking about the act, then knocked on his sister’s bedroom door telling her their mother needed her.
“She came out and out of the corner of her eye she saw me pointing the gun at her,” he said. “She thought I was joking and told me that I was freaking her out. I shot her in the back and then the head.”
He then stated that he went into the family study and shot his mother three times.
“In shock, I ran to my room and was screaming at the top of my lungs that I am really messed up and that I killed my mom and sister,” he wrote.
“As I emptied the shells on my bed, I heard noizes (sic) and realized that Mallory was still alive,” he said. “While I loaded the gun back up, I was shouting that I was sorry and then ran as fast as I could to kill her. I made sure my mom was dead and shot her again in the head.”
He said he placed the gun on the counter and called 911.
Sheriff’s deputies reported they found the bodies of his mother and sister and arrested him.
In the last sentences of Jake Evans’ horrify confession he wrote; “I know now though that I’m done with killing. It’s the most dreadful and terrifying thing I will ever experience. And what happened last night will haunt me forever.”
One Twitter user posts; It is hard to deny the movie was a factor …but was it a cause?
Another poster makes a their point writing; “Boy, shootings are a dime a dozen these days. Again gun control isn’t an issue, he stole the gun from a relative.”
What are your thoughts on Jake Evans’ murdering his family after watching the “Halloween” film is it to blame or a killer’s cop out?
