A Northern Territory travel agent has been accused of scamming holidaymakers out of at least $200,000.
Jennifer Pfitzner, the former owner of Travelscene American Express in Darwin, went missing at the end of last year after complaints from customers began piling up, the NT News reports.
About 20 people are believed to have lost money after booking holidays with Ms Pfitzner.
Travelscene has reported Ms Pfitzner to the Northern Territory Police fraud squad, claiming she continued to take money from customers for up to a month after her franchise was terminated, in mid-November.
But Travelscene has refused to compensate victims, saying the Darwin company was an independently owned and managed franchise.
One victim, cancer suffered Dianne Allard, said she was devastated after losing a $4000 booking a cruise to Singapore.
The 67-year-old said: “It’s always been a ‘bucket’ wish of mine to go on a cruise.”.
