The person filming is heard saying: ”The liberation of the political security
branch in the city of Al Tall by the Free Army,…Allahu Akbar, July 19,
2012.”
Syrian rebels also claimed the capture of a border city in Aleppo province and
the destruction of several tanks, in further video uploaded on Thursday.
The images, which cannot be independently verified, show armed men displaying
at least eight armoured vehicles, the majority of them tanks with heavy
calibre guns.
A man who identifies himself as a leader of the group, Captain Ahmad
al-Ghazaleh, said the rebels had won control of the town of Azaz earlier on
Thursday.
“On July 19 we managed, with help from God, to liberate Azaz from the military
security and the Assad gangs and the army soldiers.
“We managed to destroy all the tanks that were in the city. Azaz is a
graveyard of tanks. Azaz is a graveyard of Assad’s soldiers. God have mercy
on our martyrs,” he said.
