Hours after losing the Al-Bahariyah Hilltop in the East Ghouta, the Syrian Arab Army’s 102nd Brigade of the Republican Guard, backed by the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) and Hezbollah, recovered all of their lost points from the Islamist rebels of Faylaq Al-Rahman and Jaysh Al-Fustat. Following the recapture of Al-Bahariyah Hill, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah overran the Islamist rebel defenses at Al-Bahariyah, capturing the entire village after a violent firefight on Tuesday. In addition to capturing Al-Bahariyah, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah also continued their advance at the Jisreen Farms, where they were able to take control of several sites near the Arab Houses.
The Islamists in the East Ghouta are steadily falling apart, as the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies continue their march through the rebel heartland in eastern Damascus.

Yesterday, Major General Issam Zahreddine, commander-in-chief of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in Deir Ezzor, visited families and graves of recently deceased soldiers in the city. Many of these Syrian soldiers fought alongside the prominent Major General in recent battles against ISIS, southwest of Deir Ezzor city. Remarkably, Issam Zahreddine himself is still recovering from minor injuries sustained during frontline clashes with the Islamic State two weeks ago. 2016 has witnessed unprecedented clashes in Syria’s eastern city of Deir Ezzor with both ISIS and the SAA suffering hundreds of casualties and exchanging blows over chunks of territory. Approximately 40% of Deir Ezzor city is still held by the SAA, representing a stubborn government enclave at the very heart and center of the Islamic State caliphate.

The Russian Air Force launched another series of airstrikes over the northern Aleppo countryside on Wednesday, targeting the jihadist rebels and their associates at the ‘Anadan Plains. According to local sources in the provincial capital of Aleppo, the Russian Air Force struck the jihadist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and Jaysh Al-Mujahiddeen at the villages of ‘Anadan and Haritan.
