Syria forces clear Idlib suburb of rebels

According to Syria’s official news agency SANA, Syrian troops retook control of Khan Sheikhun on Friday following a military operation to restore security in the town. A number of terrorists fighting against the Syrian government were killed in the clashes.

Large amounts of weapons and ammunitions were seized from the rebels in Khan Sheikhun.

Meanwhile, Syrian troops clashed with armed groups in suburbs of the western city of Homs and Idlib and Dara’a, killing and wounding a number of terrorists.

They also raided rebels’ hideouts in Haffeh in Lattakia countryside and seized large amounts of weapons, including sniper rifles and machine guns. Foreign passports were also discovered in the terrorists’ hideouts.

Syria has been experiencing a deadly unrest since mid-March 2011, the violence has claimed the lives of many people, including large numbers of security forces.

While the West and the Syrian opposition say the government is responsible for the killings, Damascus blames ”outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
