Sydney trains resume following derailment

Trains have resumed on Sydney’s north shore line, five hours after a derailment disrupted services.

But commuters continue to face delays on the north shore and western lines in the aftermath of a city-bound train leaving the rails at Hornsby shortly before 4pm on Saturday (AEDT).

“CityRail staff are working hard to bring services back to normal timetable as quickly as possible,” the Transport Management Centre said in a statement.

Buses were brought in to replace trains between Gordon and Hornsby.
