A 34-YEAR-OLD man has survived being stabbed five times in a dispute that then erupted in gunfire, terrifying shoppers and residents along Sydney Road.
The stabbing victim had stopped by a car wash when an argument started with at least two unknown men. He was stabbed multiple times but still attempted to chase his attackers.
Police said the victim, a Glenroy man, 34, was known to police and was recovering in the Royal Melbourne Hospital. It appears that a social visit to see the manager of the car wash at 5pm on Tuesday turned into a row when two other men arrived.
Detective Sergeant Paul O’Connell said witnesses had told police that they heard two bursts of gunfire.
”Witnesses have said they saw a man chased across a car park into the laneway and that the man was armed,” he said.
