Sydney nurse faces 10 murder charges

The nurse accused of starting the fatal fire at the Quakers Hill Nursing Home is now facing ten murder charges, police say.

Roger Dean, 35, had two additional murder charges laid against him after homicide detectives visited him at Silverwater jail this morning.

The registered nurse was already facing eight murder charges over the fire at the home in the early morning of November 18.

Police said three people died in the blaze and eight others passed away from the injuries suffered in the fire in the weeks following.

Two other residents of the home have also died since the fire but police have not said if those deaths will be part of their investigation.

However Strike Force Westall, established to investigate the fire, said its inquiries into the blaze were continuing including the ”examination of complex medical evidence”.

Mr Dean is next due in court in February.
