Joe Biden was roundly criticised Thursday for stating during the presidential debate that the best way to defeat COVID-19 is to “wear a mask all the time”.
Biden accused President Trump of having ‘no comprehensive plan’ to deal with the virus, and declared that his plan is to “make sure everyone was encouraged to wear a mask all the time.”
As has been exhaustively noted, masks are not a solution to the virus, and were almost universally dismissed as an effective weapon against it early on, before governments seized the concept and began mandating them to make it appear they were taking action.
Many were quick to point out that wearing a mask all the time isn’t a plan:
What’s Biden’s plan to combat Coronavirus? Wear a mask.
That’s not a plan, dude.

Biden: “I would make sure to advise everyone to wear a mask all the time”
Tbh, I probably should wear a mask while I’m pooping.

“Wear a mask all the time.”
I feel like that needs a follow up.

“I would make sure we have everyone encouraged to wear a mask all the time,” says Biden—utterly disqualifying, in my view

Umm, people don’t wanna wear a mask all the time Joe.

Biden’s covid plan: mask mania. Masks all the time. Masks masks masks.

Hell, why not wear TWO masks all the time?
Biden also declared that he is “going to shut down the virus, not the country,” but then refused to rule out another lockdown:
Trump hit back stating that “all [Biden] does is talk about shutdowns,” further noting that the most economically disastrous conditions have been instituted in states such as New York, California, Pennsylvania and North Carolina by Democrats. “They’re shut down so tight, and they’re dying,” Trump urged.
“We have to open our country,” the President continued, adding “We’re not going to have a country. You can’t keep this country closed. This is a massive country with a massive economy. You can’t do this. People are losing their jobs. People are committing suicide.”
“The cure cannot be worse than the problem itself, and that’s what’s happening. And [Biden’s] going to close down the country,” Trump proclaimed.

Earlier in the debate, the President said “we can’t lock ourselves in a basement like Joe does”:
