More than 100 people were evacuated on Monday from Essex House, which is a county council housing building, over a suspected chemical leak that forced hospitalization of 11 people.
The incident comes just ten days after at least 25 residents in the building were hospitalized for inhaling noxious fumes.
The police have announced the building will be closed for at least 24 hours as officers and experts investigate the cause of the incident.
“We have requested that no-one return to the building for at least 48 hours or until a definitive cause has been established,” Assistant divisional officer Steve Foster said.
“Fire officers are now leaving the scene in the hands of the Health Protection Agency,” he added.
