Subaru owners set Guinness World Record

How many Subaru owners does it take to set a Guinness World Record? Around 400.

That’s how many joined a parade in the Village of Itasca, Illinois, earlier this summer. It was a line-up of the most popular and fuel-efficient Subaru models, including Legacy sedan and Forester crossover, in support of two local charities. Subaru owners from nine states participated.

The world’s “Largest Parade of Subaru Cars” was on Saturday, July 13, 2013, when 371 Subaru owners participated. It beat the previous record, set in 2009, also in Itasca, when 339 Subaru vehicles convoyed on a 4.2 mile route through town.

There is no word from the organizers if it will take another four years – until 2017 – for another Subaru parade.

The event supported PAWS Chicago and Salute, Inc. Both organizations received $5,000.
