Students escape before bus ‘explodes’

A group of Chinese students on a tour of Australia had a lucky escape today when their bus burst into flames in Victoria.

The students were among 44 people on board the bus which was parked at the Grants Picnic Ground in the Dandenongs.

The fire started when a suspension spring snapped just before noon on Monbulk Rd, Sherbrooke.

Witness Sean Milbourn said it made a huge noise

“I heard the bus explode and there was a lot panic and I looked around and there were flames coming from the bus and everyone was running to get off the bus,” he said.

Three firetrucks took 15 minutes to put out the flames.

Nobody was injured in the blast.
