But Lo’s work, often involving wordplay on Singapore’s slightly mangled
English known as “Singlish”, is seen by many as witty and
brightening the orderly cityscape.
One of her traffic signal stickers says “Press Once Can Already”, a
common phrase urging people against pushing the button multiple times.
Another painted on roads says “My Grandfather Road”. Singaporeans
will say of road hogs: “He thinks the road belonged to his grandfather”.
Some, however, believe it could also be a jokey reference to Lee Kuan Yew, the
city state’s founding father.
