According to Spanish officers on Tuesday, the raid was carried out in the eastern city of Valencia and the capital Madrid, uncovering one of the biggest cash finds for the country.
Authorities arrested five suspected drug traffickers including two Colombians, two Guatemalans and a Spaniard, a police statement said.
The incident marks the latest episode in Madrid’s ongoing fight against drug trafficking.
In late 2012, Spanish police detained 35 people and seized 11 metric tons of hashish from an organized drug trafficking ring operating in the central region of Toledo.
From 17 raids over an eight-month investigation, the police have held 150,000 euros in cash, 14 vehicles valued at 400,000 euros and 109 cell phones used by the drug cartel.
In 2011, police made their biggest cash seizure after finding 25 million euros in a drug raid.
