Do you brush your teeth with a ‘smart’ toothbrush?
Did you know there are ‘smart’ toothbrushes?
According to the package information that comes with the Oral-B Triaction/Precision 5000/5500, it contains an “interactive wireless display,” i.e., a radio transmitter that puts out electromagnetic frequencies. Holy moly—one more smart device to track us, even while brushing our teeth!
I wonder what it reports back and to whom? Or, does it tie into the AMI Smart Meter on your electric service to become a surveillance cog in the Internet of Things?
That product information states the following:
To avoid electromagnetic interference and/or compatibility conflicts, deactivate the radio transmission before using it in restricted surroundings, such as aircrafts or specially marked areas in hospitals. Deactivate radio transmission by simultaneously pressing the on/off and mode button for 3 seconds until the radio transmission display (f) goes off. Follow the same procedure to reactivate transmission again.
Persons with pacemakers should always keep the toothbrush more than six inches (15 centimeters) from the pacemaker while turned on. Anytime you suspect interference is taking place, deactivate the radiotransmission of your toothbrush.
A charging unit comes with the toothbrush. I wonder how much in the way of EMFs/RFs that unit pumps out. Furthermore, is it similar to cordless telephone base units, which can produce ‘dirty electricity’?
There are “Unknown Health Risks of Wireless Charging,” which all high tech users ought to become familiar with because “they represent a new source of EMF radiation in the home.”
According to the above article,
While the FCC is tasked with regulating all devices that emit wireless radiation, their primary concern is to prevent interference with other radio signals (such as cell networks and broadcast transmissions) — the FCC is largely unconcerned with protecting human health.

The shift to wireless power, however, represents an order-of-magnitude leap in the amount of EMF radiation that inundates our bodies.
Wireless charging is already being rolled out to specific Starbucks locations in the US and McDonald’s restaurants in the UK, as well as certain models of new Toyotas and Cadillac vehicles. Verizon is already selling phones with integrated support for wireless charging.
It’s yet another EMF-emitting technology being released on the market without any testing whatsoever on its real risks to human health. [CJF emphasis]
Question: Are consumers aware that every ‘smart’ device is equipped with a radio transmitter that emits electromagnetic frequencies you may not know about or not want to be subjected to?
Maybe you can take an appliance census to ascertain how many of your smart gadgets are pumping out non-thermal radiation EMFs/RFs.
If product information sheets tell how many GHz a device puts out (shouldn’t that be mandatory information on smart products information sheets?), tally up the total of how much man-made non-ionizing radiation you and your family are exposed to in addition to the 24/7/365 EMFs/RFs pulsing on to your electric wires from an AMI Smart Meter. Is that what you want to be exposed to?
