Slide is a new iPhone game, and you’re already good at it

If you own an iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch, you’ve likely used the built-in slide-to-unlock feature hundreds, thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of times. A new iOS game — appropriately named Slide — uses that very simple motion as its one and only gameplay mechanic, and it’s far more enjoyable than you might think.

Slide presents the player with five horizontal columns that randomly spawn virtual sliders that you must flip. As you slide each one, the column goes blank, a point is tallied, and a new slider appears in one of the other columns. The game starts off slow, but quickly speeds up until you simply can’t hit the sliders in time, at which point the game ends and your final score is stored.

There are four different game modes, each with varying degrees of difficulty. Classic mode features just left-to-right sliders, while Revenge, Doubles, and Twist modes all feature combinations of sliders that move in both directions. The game supports multi touch as well, so if you fancy using more than just your designated slider finger, you’re welcome to. Want to hear the best part? Slide is 100% free. Go get it.
