“Slamdance” is held every year in Park City at the same time as “Sundance.” Slam tries to showcase true indie films while “Sundance” is a much more about glam Hollywood parties and bigger budget films.
“Ghost Team One” stars Carlos Santos as Sergio, J.R. Villarreal as Brad, Tony Cavalero as Chuck, Meghan Falcone as Becky and Fernanda Romero as Fernanda.
The plot really doesn’t matter because it’s all just about getting to the joke punch line which will have something to do with bodily functions, sex or both.
It’s being called a found film, but it is not of that genre. It’s a spoof of such TV shows as “Ghost Adventures” and others of this type of show. It also has a lot of spoofing of “Paranormal Activity” and “The Exorcist.”
Sergio and Brad are renting rooms from Chuck. Both guys are frat-boy types who are as likable as a cold sore.
After finding out Fernanda is into the paranormal, they decide to make a documentary and want her to take part, (guess which part … ouch).
Chuck has been sober for almost 300 days and is pretty pissed about it so he doesn’t come out of his room much. This is good because the guys have really made a mess of the house. They have also invited demons and other disgusting entities into the house.
Cameras are installed everywhere and soon catch a few paranormal glimpses. They also hire a camera man, from CraigsList, who never leaves. He is there in the middle of the night, during the day and every other time. His name may have been Bill or something like that, but Chuck calls him ching, chong chen, as he’s yelling at him.
Fernanda goes online and finds out that the house was the setting of a horrible murder years earlier. An Asian madame and some guests were murdered and their spirits apparently are still wondering the house.
After some communing with the spirits the boys find out that, Chuck has been possessed and Fernanda is trying to communicate with her dead boyfriend.
This film is similar to the “Scary Movie” films with no big stars. This reviewer didn’t care much for it, however, many frat-boys will find it hilarious.
