The father of three murdered siblings used to beat his wife and encourage her to have sex with strangers for his own voyeuristic pleasure, a court has heard.
Max Sica, 41, is on trial for the murder of 24-year-old Neelma Singh, her brother Kunal, 18, and sister Sidhi, 12, but it was the relationship of the trio’s parents that again came under the microscope on Thursday.
Their mother Shirley Singh told the Queensland Supreme Court her husband Vijay had beat her numerous times.
“We’ve been married for 35 years – 50 times is not too bad,” Mrs Singh said.
She said she was hospitalised on at least one occasion, and that he once beat her when she was pregnant.
She said he also encouraged her to have sex with strangers, made her watch explicit videos and that twice brought prostitutes to their home.
Mrs Singh said she “hated it” and that when she refused on one occasion he told her she was “failing your duties as a wife”.
She said she ran an erotic massage service, but that she was always careful about the clients she allowed into her home.
The trial continues.
