A group of teenagers burnt a man with a lit cigarette and broke his nose and cheek during a robbery spree on a Sydney train.
The mugging spree began just after midnight on Monday when six teenagers, aged between 14 and 19, allegedly robbed a number of passengers on a train between the city and the southern suburb of Rockdale.
A 29-year-old man had his nose and cheek broken during the robbery and suffered burns from a lit cigarette.
A second man was also burnt in the face with a cigarette.
The group of four males and two females also allegedly committed two robberies earlier in the evening.
Police stopped the group about 12.45am (AEST) on Monday near Rockdale station.
They were arrested and charged with a number of robbery and assault-related offences.
A 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were refused bail and will appear at Bidura Children’s Court in Glebe on Tuesday.
A 17-year-old girl will appear at the same court on June 4.
Three men, two of them aged 18 and one aged 19, were also charged.
They will appear in Kogarah Local Court on Tuesday.
