TCP : President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met Saturday with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) Joseph Dunford, discussing international efforts of counter-terrorism in the Middle East and the whole world, announced Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Alaa Youssef.
President Sisi affirmed his country’s keenness to continue cooperation and coordination with the United States on different issues, Youssef added.
Both sides also tackled the bilateral relations, particularly in the military field, Youssef continued.
In February, Egypt’s Defense Minister Sedki Sobhi met with Dunford, tackling the issues of mutual concerns, the U.S. Defense Department announced.
On April 13, a U.S. military delegation arrived in Cairo for talks with Egyptian officials on means to boost joint military cooperation to counter the growing threat of terrorism and violent extremism in the region.
The delegation was headed by Alexander Mark Laskaris, Deputy to the Commander for Civil-Military Engagement U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM.)
In March, joint Egyptian-UAE-U.S. military exercises called “2016 Eagle’s Salute” performed in the Red Sea.
