TONY Williams was, by all accounts, a “lady-killer”.

But was it one of his women that led to him being killed?

Good-looking, a talented musician and surfer and a “real larrikin”, Mr Williams was said to be the man who put the “sex” into the name of his band, Gold Coast RB outfit Sex Chocolate, the Courier-Mail reported.

The “lady-killer of the group!” was how the band’s website described him.

“Great singer and great dancer . . . his beautiful soprano and tenor range is matched only by the countless (number) of women who throw themselves at the man!!!”

Yesterday, police appealed for former girlfriends of the murdered Gold Coast singer to come forward as the mystery over his brutal slaying continued.

The call came as two of Mr Williams’ ex-partners, the mothers of his two young children, joined other family members in appealing for public help to solve the crime.

The 37-year-old Maori singer was found bashed to death in his Mermaid Waters unit on Christmas Eve.

He was believed to have been murdered early on Friday afternoon after being dropped home by a female friend.

His body was discovered by a bandmate and his wife who went to the unit after Mr Williams did not show up for the three-piece group’s regular Friday night gig at a Broadbeach club.

Police crime co-ordinator Superintendent Dave Hutchinson said police were investigating Mr Williams’ private life as one line of inquiry.

“There has been a suggestion from the people we’ve interviewed that the victim was a ladies’ man, as such,” Supt Hutchinson said.

“With that in mind, we would appeal to the public that if there’s any ladies out there that have had a relationship with the victim – whether it’s short-term or long-term – to come forward and speak with the police.”

Supt Hutchinson said police had still not established a motive and no murder weapon had been found.

Mr Williams’ family, including former partners Shardai Kerr and Jade Dewson who appeared at yesterday’s police media conference with the dead man’s children, Lyric, 2, and Harlem, 9, said they had “no idea” why he was murdered.

They described him as a “real larrikin”, a talented musician and surfer and a “very loving young man”.
