A man who threatened to set fire to his Perth home with his seven-year-old son inside has given himself up to police.
Police were called to the home in Brookdale in Perth’s southwest around 9.30pm (WST) on Monday following reports of a domestic dispute.
A woman had left the house with one child, but her partner remained inside with their seven-year-old boy.
He had splashed petrol around the front door and was threatening to set fire to the home using a cigarette lighter, police said.
Police cordoned off the area. After negotiating with the man he surrendered to officers without further incident around 2.30am on Tuesday.
A 29-year-old man is due to appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with common assault, threatening to injure and unlawful damage.
